STASH REPORT - WEEK 25, 2015 (6/20/15)

Used this Period: 0 yards
Added this Period: 2.75 yards

Used year to Date: 106.36 yards
Added Year to Date: 26.75 yards

Net Stash Decrease for 2015:  76.91 yards

I had high hopes for stash reduction this week--but I didn't make it.  I have 2 borders to put on the second "Why" quilt and it will be done--just can't count it yet!  I purchased fabric (1.5 yards) for the sashing and borders so I have a "temporary" increase.

I also purchased fabric (1.25 yards) to make a set of machine embroidered Sally King shoes as a gift for a friend.  She likes pink/burgundy so I bought a pink.  I have pink in my stash, but thought I'd better buy some she could match if she wishes--for borders or whatever.  I will gift her with the embroidered squares only--she will make the quilt.  I'm choosing my favorites and changing some of the thread colors--one shoe I made with red soles like a Christian Louboutin shoe!  I have 5 done--not sure if I will do 12 or 16 total to give to her.  She has antique beds (double size) like I do, so either will be OK--the finished size of the embroidered blocks will be 8.5 inches.  I have 5 done (averaging about 30,000 stitches each), but can't wait to see how surprised she is when she gets them.  After seeing mine, she said she thought she needs an embroidery machine just so she can make some "shoes!"

We're going to visit grandchildren so it will be awhile before I get back to any projects--they will wait.  I need to bake, iron, pack, etc.--will be busy!

STASH REPORT - WEEK 24, 2015 (6/13/15)

Used this Period: 16.3 yards
Added this Period: .3 yards

Used year to Date: 106.36 yards
Added Year to Date: 24 yards

Net Stash Decrease for 2015:  82.36 yards

I had a productive week--and thoroughly enjoyable!  I finished the redwork girl MOY quilt, and made backings for both the boy and girl MOY quilts.  I also made the binding for the girl quilt, but still have to make the binding for the boy quilt.  We went to the "big city" on Tuesday, and I bought 1/3 yard of the metallic peacock feather fabric.  I had figured the yardage I needed to finish the border around the embroidered squares--and decided I wouldn't buy more as it would just increase my stash.  Mistake!!  One end was cut funny--you know the rest of the story.  I should have bought half a yard!  Anyway, I had a few scraps left from the alternating blocks and pieced 3 border pieces.  Lesson learned!

I started working on my second Henry Glass WHY baby quilt--working from stash is hard work!  Two of the inside borders (around the Why blocks) were pieced diagonally--"why" is the stash material always just a bit short?!  I checked my pastel blues and don't have enough of any of them to make the sashing and outside borders.  So, I guess I'll see if I can match one of them at our hardware store's quilting section.

And that's my week!

Nothing to report this week.  I'm working on the redwork girl MOY, but it isn't finished.  I should have a good stash report next week!  I did finish the binding on a scrappy quilt that has been waiting for attention for about a month.

We're still having a lot of rain, but won't complain.  Anyone who lives in or adjacent to the forest welcomes moisture!
