Added this Period: 1.75 yards

Used year to Date:  0 yards
Added Year to Date:  1.75 yards

Net Stash Increase for 2016:   1.75 yards

What a short week!  I wasted the first part of the week trying to shake the upper respiratory infection that I picked up over the Christmas/New Year holidays--just playing on the computer, reading, napping, sitting in my recliner watching TV.  I'm still not 100%, but I am getting better.

We went to the big city on Thursday, and I found a red angel Christmas fabric (1.75 yards) I "couldn't live without!"  I resisted most of the sale fabrics, but I love angels and I love Christmas.  Not sure how I will use it, but I'm sure I'll figure something out.

I started on my first NewFO quilt for the new year.  It is amazing how soothing and peaceful it is to spend time in my sewing room again.  Someone told me her mother used to say "Sew on Sunday, rip on Monday."  I'm sure she was referring to God's request that Sunday be a day of rest.  For me, being in my sewing room, piecing a quilt, is a restful way to spend a Sunday!  Anyway, the quilt I decided to start is Mountain Majesties in blues.  I have a lot of blue material, and this is a project that will use some of that blue stash.  I have 15 blocks finished so far, with another 16 in progress.  It is an easy pattern; look on Bonnie Hunter's website for a scrappy version and instructions.  This is a sample:

I may decide to make a scrappy Christmas Mountain Majesties if I like the blue one.

My New Year's resolutions include a) losing weight, eating healthily, exercising; b) reducing stash; c) longarm quilting those 100+ tops that are waiting; d) finishing things on my other UFO lists (crochet/decorative painting/machine embroidery/hand embroidery).  These resolutions aren't very different than last year's resolutions; but if I don't make resolutions, I'm less likely to accomplish the things I want to accomplish.

Stash-Busting Goals - 2016

I'm excited to start a new year to further reduce my stash!  Perhaps I can resist the beautiful new fabrics that call to me.  I will continue to purchase fabrics as needed to coordinate with my stash fabrics.  In 2014, my net stash decrease was 97.97 yards; in 2015, my net stash decrease was 164.93 yards.  Do you suppose I will be able to have a net reduction of 200 yards in 2016?  My 2016 goals are:

STASH REPORT - WEEK 52, 2015 (12/26/15)

Used this Period: 34.76 yards
Added this Period: 0 yards

Used year to Date:  205.18 yards
Added Year to Date:  40.25 yards

Net Stash Decrease for 2015:   164.93 yards

I will have to settle for almost 165 net stash used.  I was hoping for 200 net yards--maybe next year!

Year-End Report - 2015

Used year to Date:  205.18 yards
Added Year to Date:  40.25 yards

Net Stash Decrease for 2015:   164.93 yards

I quilted 12 quilts on the LongarmUFO list.

I pieced 9 quilts from my UFO/NewFO quilt top A and B lists; I pieced 12 quilts that were on my "unplanned" C list.  That made a total of 21 new pieced tops.

I also completed a few projects from my Machine Embroidery/Embroidery/Crochet/Decorative Painting UFO lists--but not nearly enough!

I'm looking forward to 2016--a new year, a clean slate, lots of projects to do!  Happy New Year to all.

Just a Sunday morning update...

What fun--I just went back and started reading some of my past blog posts.   Have you done that with your blogs?  I found that I enjoyed those blogs that showed pictures of what I accomplished more than the posts that just talked about what I was working on.  And I liked reading some of the non-Stash Report posts that reminded me of what was happening that year.  So, I'll try to be better about posting pictures--yes, I still have my husband taking the pictures and will continue that routine.  I also liked reading comments left by other stash reporters--I will try to do better on leaving comments for others, too.  I only read the first 6 months of 2012, so I have quite a few left to read.  I used 222 3/4 yards of fabric in 2012!  I won't match that this year, but I didn't have as much yardage coming in either.

The sad but revealing thing I learned is that I still haven't quilted the tops I made way back in 2012!  I guess that will have to become a priority this year, instead of just being listed as a goal!!  I told my doctor this year that I needed to live 3 1/2 more years, and he asked me why--because I need that long to quilt all the tops I have waiting in my Longarm UFO list!!  There are just too many tops added to my bucket list--too many tops that I "just can't wait to see how they look" when they are pieced!!

And we have seen "my" mountain goats for the last 3 weeks--I love those goats!  They always look so pristine, unlike domestic sheep who often look like they haven't cleaned their posterior ends!  And those daddy goats never hesitate to chastise the little ones if they get out of line.  One goat was down licking salt off the highway when we went to Mass last night--I so hope none get run over.

Today I will make some quick breads and candy, start on a Christmas letter (yes, I still do a letter summarizing our year--even though a lot of people feel negative about them) and cards, and maybe get a tree up.  It is interesting to read through our past Christmas letters--a chronology of our family history!  I guess I like receiving those letters in cards (maybe that's why I still write them!)--a glimpse into what has happened in our friends' lives during the year.  Christmas cards become fewer each year, and may be a thing of the past soon.  I think I'm living in the wrong era!!  And now on to the day!

STASH REPORT - WEEK 48-49, 2015 (11/28-12/5/15)

Used this Period: 34.76 yards
Added this Period: 0 yards

Used year to Date:  205.18 yards
Added Year to Date:  40.25 yards

Net Stash Decrease for 2015:   164.93 yards

I've been working on panels for the past 2 weeks--not sure why I see so many panels that I can't resist, but they sure seem to hop into my cart!  Three I have gifted--2 to my long-distance quilting partner (she's not sure whether she is appreciative or not!) and 1 to a senior quilter who lives here in the Valley (I told her she can add borders and give it to her granddaughter for Christmas!).  That is 3 yards gifted.

I finished a Santa panel/yardage that I cut into individual blocks and made into a lap-sized quilt.  There were 9 santas in 1.5 yards of fabric; total used:  8 yards.  I finished a panel with a moose fishing; total yards used:  4.67.  I finished a "country" autumn panel; total yards used:  6.5 yards.  All of these yardages include backing and binding.

I also cut out 5 more funky chicks; that used 1/4 yard.

I finished a Nancy Halverson Christmas panel; total yards used:  6'7".  I also finished a Nancy Halverson "12 Days of Christmas" panel; total yards used:  6'5".

Now I'd better clean up my sewing room and decorate for Christmas--my son & family will be here in 2 weeks and I still have baking, cards, decorating, etc. to do!
